“What the fuck is this?” Troy asked, finally shutting the door. “Who are those men?”
“They work as part of a militia,” Pete said. “They broke
into the store and were rifling through my stuff. I waited until they split up
and one-by-one I attacked them and got them subdued.”
“You took them down by yourself?” Dominic asked. Pete nodded.
“Were there any others? They don’t usually move without groups.”
“As far as I know it was only those two. I-I didn’t want you
to see. I was hoping the zombies would take care of them.”
“Yeah they don’t appear too interested in your hostages but
I know someone who might be,” Troy replied.
“What are you thinking?” Dominic asked.
“We take them with us. And, if we’re lucky, we can get some
Intel about where they are operating and just maybe get ahead of BioCore. But,
first thing’s first.”
Opening the door once more, Troy took a stance and prepared
himself for the two approaching zombies. One of them looked businesslike dressed
in what was once a nice, expensive suit. The other was a girl with long coffee-brown
hair, wearing loose-fitted jeans and an ironic t-shirt proclaiming her a
“zombie snack.”
The man looked beaten and bit up as though he was used as a
chew toy for rabid dogs, but the girl only had a large gash across her stomach,
allowing some of her insides to be seen. With no other visible injuries or bite
marks, Troy wondered how the girl became a member of the walking dead. Putting
it to the back of his mind, his eyes fell on a nearby fire extinguisher and a
plan slowly came together.
Waiting until the two wobbled closer, he pulled the trigger,
causing a violent blast of white powder to buffet each in the face while the
air around them filled with a cloud of CO2. The female zombie stopped
short, apparently confused by the stimuli. The other one bumped into her back, knocking
her forward, causing her to tripping over a shelf and land right at Troy’s
feet.
Not wasting the advantage, he slammed his tire iron down on
the zombie’s head with all his might. A gruesome spray of wet gore splattered
across his shins as the creature’s head popped like a melon. The businessman
zombie was on him fast, but he had to step over the remains of the other and
stumbled. Forcing himself to ignore the revulsion, he swung his weapon over his
head and smashed the monster solidly in the head. There was a loud crack and it
reeled back in a spray of blackish blood.
Still on its feet, he didn’t want to give it a chance to
recover and used both hands to clobber it again. This time the side of its
skull caved in with a wet crunch and it fell to join the first.
The two men sat on the cold tile staring over at Troy. He
paused a moment to really take a look at them. They were completely covered in
tactical gear and both looked physically fit. It made him wonder just how Pete,
someone slight in stature, was able to subdue them alone.
“Do we need both of them?” Jeremiah asked as he walked up
behind him.
“Yes,” Troy replied “Who knows if we could get either to
talk and who’s to say they know the same thing? If we’re going to get through
this, we need as much information as we can.”
“What’s that on their shirt?” Jeremiah asked, noticing a
flashing red light just above their left breast.
“Shit! DOM!” Troy shouted and waited to find his friend
standing in the door. “They have trackers. I’m sure they are required to check
in every so often which means if we don’t get out of here now, we might not
make it out alive.”
Jeremiah moved forward and snatched at the red indicator
light, ripping the tracking device off both men before smashing them under
heel. “This just got riskier. What if they have a hidden one too and we lead
them right to our hideout?”
“Strip ‘em,” Elise mumbled as she leaned against the wall.
“We can take them back in their underwear if need be.” She began to stagger and
Dominic quickly lifted her in his arms.

hahaha the shirt. And interesting that the zombies didn't eat those guys. They must have some sort of repellent or vaccine of some sort that either keeps them invisible to the zombies. Something is super fishy with that. And I still don't trust Pete! Seriously, that dude took out those two guys. Not buying it at all. And if they have been in there for a while then why in the hell hasn't the rescue group come to get their men? So many questions and so little trust of newbies. LOL
