12: Darkness Calls

“Goodnight,” Jill smiled as she walked down the hall to the other room.

Kalene stretched and passed Nancy on her way to shower and prepare for bed. They’d decided who would sleep where between the two rooms; no one wanted to sleep in the murder room.

Lizzy, Daijah, Quiana, Nedra, Kalene and Jill took the masters room and spread out evenly in sleeping bags on air mattresses while Lizzy and Jill shared the bed. Freedom, Nancy, Karima, Holley and Leah took the room across the hall.

Darkness fell over the house as they rested. The floor and walls seemed to creak all night as the old house continued to settle into the dirt. Quiana, Leah and Nedra found it hard to sleep in the quiet shell of their rooms and one by one started down the stairs to the living room where they found an old television against the back wall.

“Think it works?” Quiana asked pulling it towards the center of the room and turning it on. It crackled and buzzed before a picture actually popped up on the screen some infomercial about Halloween decorations and products for the home.

“Looks like it does!” Nedra exclaimed as she took a seat on the couch and grabbed a blanket to cover herself. Leah dropped down beside her as Quiana turned the dials to find something to watch finally settling on an old black and white romance.

“Only thing missing now are snacks,” Leah whispered.

“We could maybe find something in the kitchen I’m sure.”

“Yeah but is there just enough for the month?”

“I’m sure when she said that she didn’t mean we couldn’t nibble on things as we got hungry. And there has to be a store on this island since there are others that live on it, we could always go shopping.”

“True.”

They walked towards the kitchen and began searching for something to eat.

Quiana started for the pantry. “What are you doing?” Daijah asked behind them. They jumped at the sound of her voice and the tone that seemed somewhat annoyed and angry.

“Nothing, we were just looking for a midnight snack. None of us could sleep and we were going to watch a few movies until the sand man came.”

“I wouldn’t have put it quite that way,” Nedra said. “I’d prefer if the sandman stayed away but everything else she said, yes. We’re having trouble sleeping.”

Daijah smiled, slowly replacing the scowl that had formed watching them prepare to raid the pantry. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to scare you. Of course you can snack on whatever’s in here. In fact, why don’t I make you some popcorn or something and join you. What are we watching?”

“Just some black and white romance. It seemed sorta interesting,” Leah chirped.

“Cool! Go on back to the living room and I’ll fix up the snacks.”

The trio exited the kitchen as Daijah grabbed a large bowl and started preparing the popcorn. She found them snuggled together on the sofa with the television close to them. “I’m surprised that thing still works. It was sitting against that back wall so I figured whoever left it did so because it was busted.”

She sat the popcorn on the table and snuggled into the blanket with them. Leah held the bowl of popcorn and the girls watched two movies before finally heading back upstairs to sleep.

They pass quietly through Hell’s portal
entering into the world of mortal
around the corner through the Devil’s gate
they tamper with the hands of fate

Be cautious as these spirits abound
trapping souls as they walk the grounds
whispers sound as the darkness lures
an ailment and surely there is no cure

They’ve gathered now and with a wicked sneer
prepare to spread their hate and fear
beware if you hear the Devil’s moan
or you’ll be reduced to nothing but bone

Don’t make a sound or look them in the eyes
or you will meet a dark demise
You’ll take one last breath of air my friend
as the darkness summons your bitter end

  2. Yes, some of them were able to lay their heads for rest while the others were even more creeped out than before.

This one was short as I cut some pieces to add to the next few (only mid month had to extend the story :P) but there were some important parts here as well.

    Thank you so much :D

And I'm very happy to hear that!

  3. I just knew something was going to happen while they watched television! I was on pins and needles, but they got to watch two movies in peace.

It was funny when Daijah scared them in the kitchen!

The expression on that girls face at the end says it all! Those zombies are scary! Especially the one holding the girl. She looks evil!

  4. Gee thanks, they went from watching romance movies to you scaring me with the zombies again.

I'm surprised they all weren't downstairs because I don't know how well I could sleep in a creaky, spooky old house where people have been murdered.

That would have been perfect, especially outside that window where their backs were turned. It would have been a perfect opportunity.

Daijah scaring them in the kitchen was funny :P she had a mean expression on her face and anger in her voice though, that's what really alarmed them.

Did you see where the Zombies were?

    Thank you for reading :)

Sorry :P it was a sweet, peaceful event until then.

They were all supposed to be there but I shortened this chapter and moved some parts to a later date.

I wouldn't be able to sleep in there either but they have no choice actually. The ferry won't be back for another 18 days :D Though you opted to sleep in the car huh? LOL

    Thank you for reading.

Daijah can't resist a good scare though (teehee)

That's the end of the zombies for now LOL sorry! I am making more demons as we speak. Just remember you asked for it! :D

    Thank you for reading.
