25: The Forgotten Path

Dead shrubs and grass cluttered the vacant lot
there were moss covered trees and huge dirt clots
only the bravest or dumbest would dare go near
and only the luckiest or blessed came back from here

The house that once occupied the desolate waste
was used for ritual killings and blood stained the place
its occupants long dead, killed mysteriously one night
and no one investigated; it just seemed right

It was the one slip up that finally did them in
and the one lone girl who made them pay for their sin
she was covered in wounds, gashes deep in her arms
suckered into the house by the father’s sick charms

He wrapped her in plastic and left her to rot
not realizing she was breathing and that she’d fought
her life was precious and she vowed to make them pay
for the crimes done against her and painful dismay

She waited until night to make her escape
she broke free of her bonds, wiggled from the tape
she ran on broken tree branches, twigs and rocks
her feet bloodied and bruised and staining her socks

But she was finally free of the family’s deadly plot
and revenge was the only thing now that she sought
one by one she found them and chopped off their heads
never again would anyone be tied to their beds

But she didn’t stop there her bloodlust ran cold
and she turned her vengeance on the town’s old
everyone would pay for not coming to her aide
and suffer as she did in the darkness she laid

Those who laughed at her only got it worst
and those that ran she hexed and cursed
the sheriff finally got to her and shot her dead
and she fell hard; one bullet to the head

Now a dark cloud looms over that town
and at night you’d never find anyone around
and a barricade blocks the winding path
where the young girl finally took out her wrath

  1. That house must draw all the evil!

That poor girl! I was glad that she got her revenge, but the abuse twisted her mind. She took out her revenge on everyone!

    Another scary chapter!

  2. Exactly! She let the abuse she went through corrupt her to the point that she had to also be killed.

For the rest of the month we have stories and poems, this was the last solo poem chapter and now we're down to the nitty gritty!

This was to explain why the town wasn't so friendly to strangers :D

  3. Tell me why this house hasn't been burned down or bulldozed or both?????

Why does anyone still live in this town. I understand not being friendly to strangers, but I wouldn't live there at all.

That is too much death for one small island.

The house probably wouldn't let anyone bulldoze it :P it was said that the owner refused to allow authorities to tear it down. Who are the owners?

I don't think I could live in this town either! You are very right for such a small place it's only seen death. That's like their major tourist trap!

    Thank you for reading!

  5. That poor girl! Her father caused all of that and she paid for it! I feel for the girls because I have no clue how she connects to the house and how she'll see them.

That wasn't her Dad, he was the father of some other sick, deranged family and they all brought in innocent, unsuspecting people and killed them after having "fun". She saved the town and then turned on them for not helping her.

The cop was doing his job...finally.

:) She's part of the town...all the psychos are!

    Thank you for reading!
